Cory Foy
Software Craftsman

Cory is a passionate software developer and technical leader with over 15 years of experience managing and leading software teams around the globe. Prior to coming to 8th Light, Cory worked with large clients from around the world in solving problems ranging from inaccessible information stalling operations within hospitals to work on information systems supporting active military missions. At 8th Light Cory has worked on projects like helping a college develop a solution for dealing with large amounts of faculty information.
To Cory, being a craftsman means dumping "get it done at all costs" and refocusing on "get it done correctly." If your vision is only on the end goal, you are going to take shortcuts that you will pay for down the line. Craftsmanship is also a commitment to never being satisfied with where you are and taking responsibility for improving your skills.
Cory has been active in the agile software community where he has been involved with Extreme Programming, Scrum, and Kanban. He is a frequent conference speaker, having presented at conferences such as Agile, XP 2010, SCNA, TechReady, and Mix.
Cory resides just north of Tampa, Florida with his wife and two beautiful girls. In his spare time, Cory is a musician and enjoys fresh and saltwater fishing.
