Dave Moore

Software Craftsman

Dave built his first application as a freshman in high school. After taking all of the programming classes his school offered, he started entering national programming competitions in Java and C#. Soon after, he took his first job as a web application developer.

Dave's job introduced him to new technical and business concepts. Intrigued by these new concepts, Dave got a business degree and sales certificate from Northern Illinois University while loading up his electives with Computer Science classes.

After graduating, he started a company that built websites for various local businesses and an application to help automate building websites. He outsourced contractors to help him with his work load.

During the course of running his company, Dave discovered new approaches to building effective web applications. Eager to learn more, he joined the 8th Light team as an apprentice under Micah Martin's mentorship.

As an apprentice, Dave sharpened his coding skills and studied new principles like TDD and iterative programming. Some of the languages he worked with as an apprentice included Ruby, Clojure, JavaScript, Python, and Java.

As a craftsman, Dave is continuing his journey by actively collaborating with other craftsmen in his field.
