Joey Shipley

Software Craftsman

For 10 years prior to coming to 8th Light, Joey worked in a variety of development environments ranging from two- to forty-person teams and on a variety of projects ranging from retail mobile sites to integrated company content/customer management systems.

Although Joey's focus is in software development, his background also includes art and design. One of his many hobbies is creating small-scale games where he gets to exercise his creativity in both art and code. Joey feels that developing your expertise in various languages and tools is only part of the equation, with the other part being energy and care that you put into your environment and those you share it with.

He sees coming to 8th Light as the next important step in his life; one that will give him the opportunity to take his hobbies, passions, studies, and experiences to a new level, while giving him the chance to be included among an amazing group of professionals.

Through his hobbies and career Joey has worked in and utilized; ASP.NET MVC, C#, LINQ, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, ActionScript, Silverlight, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Blender3D. Since coming to 8thLight, he has begun to expand his languages to include: Ruby, Rails, Java, Objective-C, C++ and Clojure.
